I was just watching Smokey and the Bandit last night to see what kind of CB he used in the movie and there was a black box on top of the CB, does anybody know what it is, the brand name on it said PACE.
Thanks, -

Or maybe this? http://cgi.eb...QcmdZViewItem
I saw the movie recently too and never got a good look at the CB. I just looked up "pace cb radio" on google. Those were the two best links I could find.Motortopian. Lover. Code Geek.

I looked at the movie also and the police scanner is a pace. I can't read the CB name even with zoom. Connex is what I remember also. TylerGod Bless, Tyler

Actually, I believe he had a scanner on top of the C.B., Not a linear.... Of course I've been wrong before.
Edit: I watched The movie tonight, and I got a got a good look at the C.B. During the part where he hears Hot Pants Hilliard, you see him adjusting the radio. When he moves his hand, You can see it's a Pace radio, model # CB-100. The scanner is also a Pace, and has the same logo (((P))) on the face plate. The lettering(showing c.b., p.a., volume, squelch) on the face plate is light blue. Hope this helps.Edited Mar 5, 2007 at 11:09 pm

I wouldn't mind having one of those scanners also. I also noticed that they were installed aftermarket. They are installed on top of the console and not in the cubby hole. When you watch the movie notice how dirty the console and floor of the car is. Jason1981 Black/Black Orange Bird Trans Am

Two of you are correct. The cb is a Pace model cb-166 40 channel, and the 4 channel police scanner that sits on top of it is a Pace 10-4U. I restored my 1978 Trans Am in to a Smokey & the Bandit replica, and wanted to be as screen accurate as possible, so did the research and frame by framed the movie to properly identify all details of the car. Both units are fully functional. I got lucky on ebay and purchased the set. The cb was new in the box and the scanner (which took me two years to find) came with all parts and books.tonyf14
