Well, my CB is installed. It just so happens that the only CB shop within 50 miles is down the street. smile image The owner was really cool, and excited about the trip. He sold me a Cobra 29 Classic, a radio that would look at home in any big rig, and although he didn't have a trunk lip antenna mount, he told me where I could go get one. He installed it for me and tuned it, and it sounds great.

I even went back today and asked him to attach the cigearette lighter outlet so I could run my inverter; he tried to only charge me five bucks (all he had to do was drill two lself tapping sheetmetal screws and patch into the fuse block), but I told him I wouldn't pay him any less than 20, since it might be forever before I ever get back this way again. When he ran my card, he split the difference and charged me ten. smile image

If you need CB stuff, I gotta recommend Petal Electronics in Petal MS (I-59 runs near there).

Now my car looks like a radio controlled car. smile image

      Goodluckfox,

Glad to here someone isn't having trouble getting their CB ready. I found my old CB that use to be in my car. But I couldn't find the antenna, so I bought a new one. Got them installed with no problems. Then I couldn't find someone to set the SWR. No one in my area. Not even the truck stop or the only CB shop in town do it. So a co worker says he has a meter. He wasn't lying, but this thing is an antique. I can't figure out how to use it. Well another co worker, who is a Ham Radio operator said he knew how to. He was a no show today at my house to do it. He called and said we can do it Monday at work. That's cutting it close, as we are leaving on Wednesday. I don't really want to pay $50 for a meter for a one time use. But I'm about ready to. I'll see what happens Monday.

On a good note, I did my get my headliner back in today. So that finishes my interior, now for that pesky SWR.

Yea know what you mean. I had to buy a magnet mount and the one I bought sucked so I bought another one that was good(Wilson) from a guy in town to find out that my CB was bad. Pulled back out and installed my second one and it too was bad. I ended up buying one from the same guy and finally it all works great. CB's are a dying technology. Truckers still use them but a lot of them just use cell phones now weepy image Jason

Well I messed around today and figuered out the SWR meter I have. Got it down to 1.7 on ch 1 and 23. But it's 1.5 on 19, so I guess it'll be Okay.

I know what Ya mean. I went for ride today on the interstate to see how my rig works. You have to develope an ear to understand them truckers.

I asked for a radio check. I guess I'm transmitting, cause a trucker answered me, but I couldn't understand a word he said.

Put a coat of wax and rotated the tires today. I'll finish cleaning up the inside tomorrow.

Leaving SC Wed morning, see ya'll in Birmingham. According to weather.com, looks like ran the whole way....YUCK, UGH!!!!!!!

But Atalnta should be great for the whole weekend, again according to weather.com.
