Hello to all our fellow Bandit Runners, Trans Am Lovers, car buffs etc. We just want to send our prayers out to all the people who went thru Hurricane Ike. We have met a few people during the past 2 Bandit Runs like Tin Man, Bird Lover and Dave and Lori Hershey just to name a few. We went thru 3 of these storms in 2005 and know what our Trans Am people are going thru.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you, your family's and all the people of Texas.
Give us updates if you are able to.

There's no question Ike caught people by surprise...I think they just assumed because it was a category 2 storm, it wasn't going to be that bad. They just didn't take into consideration the sheer size of it.

I received a ton of rain and some wind up here in Plano, but the majority of the damage was further east. Being 300 miles or so from the coast, Ike was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it got here.

My friends and business associates in Houston are another story. Several were hammered pretty badly and I STILL have not heard from one of my system engineers that lives in Humble, TX (direct hit). One of my sales representatives in The Woodlands (north of Houston) lost four large trees and is still without power. He also owns property outside of Houston and the barn as well as the guest house no longer exist.

I sense that the amount of destruction and the clean-up will be extensive and will last well beyond the media attention. You can't have a major storm like that hit a city of four million plus (New Orleans was 1.5 million) and not have ongoing consequences.
