if you are coming from saint louis area it would be quicker to take I 55 all the way to memphis then 40 over to little rock. 67 would be the scenic route. i have been thru there alot.

Looks like that would add a few minutes to the drive for me. How's the traffic usually about 11am? What time you think you'll be in Memphis?

Leaving Chattanooga Tn around 5 CDT and should be in Nashville about 7am. Then straight to Memphis and expect to be there around 11-12 noon. What time does everyone plan on being in Memphis?? Is there anyone that knows a good place or exit to meet up??

I have been studying the map. you mentioned 67, I see that goes all the way to little rock AR and thru to texarkana. I am assuming that is the way you were talking about? the section between festus, MO and Polar Bluff, MO I know well 4 lane most all of the way and its good road but the rest of that route is narrow 2 lane blacktop stuff thats rough and so many small towns to slow down for. I can guarantee that its faster going I40 from I55 even though its longer.

Traffic is not bad anywhere between cape girardeau and Memphis that I know of. you will have some CRAZY traffic up around st louison I55 till about Arnold, MO. not that slow bumper to bumper stuff either. I am talking NASCAR style! you gotta get on the go pedal up there. its like 5 lanes of traffic and nothing for someone to cross all 5 weaving thru cars at 100.

not sure exactly yet when we will be rolling by Memphis, kind of flexible on it. I know at exit 280 on I40 there is a pilot travel center I have stopped at many times, I found it on google maps 35.157907, -90.137458 kind of depends on what kind of places you want to be at. nothing much around there unless you go into Memphis which would be some back tracking for some of us. That Pilot is located about 3 miles from the I40 and I55 split. there wasnt much on I40 between memphis and little rock but its been years since I been thru there.

I know 67 closer to Texarkana is 2 lanes and rough and slow in places. You don't want to travel that for hours. I rode my motorcycle up and down that road to Hot Springs, it wears you down on the long hauls. From Memphis I'd just go I40 and at Little Rock it will switch over to I30 straight to Texarkana. If you was making it a two day trip site seeing you could take 67, other than that I'd stick to the above.

Also if you are meeting somewhere in Memphis I've found the first exit into Arkansas, which is West Memphis was easier to navigate than the city. There's just fast food until you go a few miles and there's more eat places down closer to the dog track on I40. Just trying to help, I travel that road alot.
