OK
First i hope i can mk it. I Need Suggestions
I will be coming a LONG Long way from Pa. My car (in my garage) is a serious Fuel Hog. 600 Hp @ 8/12 MPG isnt realy the best thing for a cruise, but its my bandit and i need to get her on 1 of these runs 1 Time at least.
I want to trailor it to my "PUT on" location in the cruise (the drive from pa is just to much) and let my wife be Snowgirl and drive the truck and trailor W/ our Fred.
I would need to stop prob every 150 miles on my 15 gal tank for fuel.
Umm ....give me somethin to think about Peeps. It looks like most of the T/As on the run are stock with decent gas mileage.
Id like to hear from people who have trailored to this run or know some1 who has. I dont want to over think this . I just want to make sure im thinking of everything.
LIKE... this thought i just had: If 2 many people trailor their birds to the run........There could be trailor parking issues at these hotels.
So again any input would be appreciated :

Brad,
My car is not stock either. It gets 8/10 around town and 13 on the highway. But it has the stock fuel tank in it. I don't own a trailer. It's pushin about 420 (360rwhp) w/ 550 lbs of torque. And theres more in the motor. The fuel system can't keep up with the motor currently. Should be "right" for next years run, thats my winter project this year. Lining things up now to get to work on it.
You'd be surprised at the TAs that are not stock on the run. Mild to wild.
Your wife will not feel out of place pulling a trailer. There have been other trailers on the run at different times. Restore A Musclecar has to pull their trailer every year. We've had SUVs, pick-ups, rental cars, and other brand name muscle cars on the run new and old.
Where are you thinking your "put on" point would be? Texarkana I'm thinking. So I guess you would trailer to there, unload your car, do the run (Texarkana to Braselton), and trailer it back home from Year One? Don't know your finances but thats definitly doable logistically. A thought would be that you could only do one leg of the run. Or trailer your car on certain legs of the run, and cruise it on others. I guess the Tremic isn't helping much on the MPG. Of course what would it be without it?
It's your vacation, so have fun with it. Runnin down the road with all the black and gold is a sight to see. We definitly want you to come on the run. Hope to see YA there.
PM sent.Keep on Pontiyakkin'

Agreed, definately doable... Driving from California this year myself... you will have a blast.. and there were several cars that can only go 200 on a tank (mine included)... But like said, its your vacation.. do what you can, it will be worth it! Lots of great people.. TONS of beautiful cars.. and the stories just make it all worth while..

This might be out of the questions, but have you thought of swapping rearend gears to help with that fuel econ? My car gets about 16 mpg on a good day, but on the Run, it's really hard to keep my foot out of it.How's this thing go back together???

If you are lookin for a seat cover I may be able to help ya with some of the fuel cost. I may have a few Kangaroos comin with me for you to duck & weave from as well !!!!If ya can't be good --- be good at it !!!!

Prior to 2007, my 78 Bandit T/A would only do 13 mpg on the freeway at 75 mph and taching about 3250. In June of 07 I took this car on Hot Rod Magazine's Power Tour but before i left i dropped a Tremec TKO 600 5 speed in it. On the tour i was able to get a constant 21 mph and a best on one tank of 23 mpg.
I'm hoping to be able to go on the 2012 tour since its going to be the original run again! -

On the 2010 Run we got about 15mpgs around town, and on the hwy we managed to get anywhere from 20-23mpgs.
As long as we kept our foot out of the secondaries, we did good!! lol
