In response to Debbie, Adam and I had mentioned the Land Between the Lakes area last week if the group wanted a good scenic tour, but it is 2 lane for the length of the road which stretches from Grand Rivers, KY to Dover, TN and may not fit the speed of the Run. Downtown Paducah, KY also has adequate parking with nice resturants and I believe the city would be willing to accomodate us. Just a suggestion for a stop if the run needs a place, if it runs through this area.

I also am in agreement and love the beach, along with multiday stops. I much enjoy the cruising, but with so many cars, we got split very easily and it seemed that the speed limit wasn't anything less than 80 for most of the time, which slaughtered some people in fuel. Maybe a beach stop with a 3 day lay-over would be cool. scratchchin image

I like the idea of keeping the Bandit Run as it's own entity. Blending with other events takes a bit away from the run in my opinion as I could easily enjoy meeting all the Bandit Runners during the trip and I could chat with them again the following day, something not done as effortless during big shows/events.

The suggestion of staying at one place and doing some day runs is a unique thought that I like. It gives you a chance to empty the car and really go for a relaxing cruise without worrying about getting up at 6AM the next morning and burning hard for 300 miles to the next hotel. The key to this would be a good location with very good roads and scenic routes. The Smokey Mountains (Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge) comes to mind here, with multiple options for day outings.

I'm more than willing to help if any info is needed from my area, but will still attempt make the trip, regardless of the route. biggrin image

This was my first time and I know I had a great time. The Beau Rivage was great and since I was broke down and had to miss the send off I had a chance to see how much they are willing to help. Not only were they great but so were other Bandit runners when they got my car back running!

If this event was to roll into another type of event yes it would give everyone something to do but IMO it would take away the value of "THE BANDIT RUN". It would then be nothing more than a whole bunch of Trans Ams" rolling into a show then the work of a true show will have to begin. The best part of this event to the LACK OF competition between everyone and just the laid back have fun time.

The only thing I wish I could have seen in the short trip of mine was some type of caravan of cars not a cannonball run. I know there is no way to keep 100+ cars together but more than 2 would sure make a statement......

Thank You to EVERYONE who puts together this event for your time, your passion and all that it takes to make this happen. I always knew from the program the how, what, when and the where to be so that was not a problem for us.

I sure hope that this event comes back this way again I know we loved it and next time I hope to make the entire trip without issues!

      Debbie,
I enjoyed reading the comments and input for the next Bandit Run. Well here is my two cents worth. I like the idea of a Blue Ridge Mountain run and maybe the Carolinas with the Outer Banks or Myrtle Beach area involved for a Beach stop. We might could start in Kentucky or Tennessee and end up at Year One. What ever it is We're in.
Thanks again for the great 2012 run.

We didn't think it was possible but we enjoyed this year's run even better than last year! We LOVED the 2 day stay in Biloxi at Beau Rivage! There was so much to do we would've been happy with 3 days there. I heard some people talking about Florida as an idea for the run but I also like JessupTA's suggestion too. I am in agreement to not combine the event, it is its own entity and needs to stay that way. I also like the idea of multiday lay-overs with an event of some kind each day so that you really have time to relax and enjoy each other's company during the run. We are a family after all. wink image

All great suggestions. One thing I have always wanted to do since we started doing this in 2007 was to have a destination that would literally have cheering people, signs, fireworks and rigs all honking and hooting as we all finish as a group....like at the end of the movie. We live in the DFW area....and I know this would sound overtly friendly to that geography....but here was what I was thinking....a fourth of july weekend run on the mother road....Route 66.....Oklahoma City/Albuquerque/Tucumcari, etc.....(as much of the old road as possible) all ending up a the Texas Motor Speedway just north of Fort Worth....where we'd have a special 'Bandit Run' festival for an entire day at the end, the Dallas Area Pontiac Association and their cars there to greet us....heck, maybe even the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders cheering us in. Then, of course, laps around the track. Fourth of july would be cool because the kids are out of school...and it would be a great opportunity for people to bring them and show them historic route 66....like they saw in 'Cars'....lol.

Whatever we do, it was really great to see so many old friends, and meet great new ones. Lori and I want to thank all of you for your kindness to us and our girls along the way....we hope to see you all again soon!

Another thought I had and to keep the ideas flowing:
      Year One to start,
Monday: Braselton to Charlotte (Motor Speedway) 250 miles
Tuesday:Charlotte to Salem, VA (National D Day Museum) 195 miles
Wed: Salem to Washington, DC (with the rig being a Wounded Warrior Project may be able to pull something off, I have a family member that works for Elizabeth Doyle and the Wounded Warriors) 240 miles
Thurs & Friday: Virginia Beach: 210 miles from Washington

Any day above ground is a GOOD day!!!
