I would like to get new tires and wheels but doesn't look like it will happen. This trip alone will cost roughly 1500. You guys all rob banks or something to afford to do all this stuff to your vehicles?
So much I would like to do, but isn't going to happen
I am still trying to decide what car to bring,
the 79 would be more fun but also more costly and not sure if it would make it through the whole trip. The 01 bird would be more gas friendly, I guess will see when time comes....huh

I dont think we have any thevies here, but then again this is The Bandit Run
yes, these trips cost sum moolah, and some are doing very well,(finacially) others (like me) wondering when the next dollar will fall from the tree.
some of us can do all our own repairs, but parts still cost. as for your cars, take the one which will cost you the least amount and be reliable, you dont have to prove anything to anyone here. great bunch of peeps

I know I don't have to prove anything, I brought the 01 on the 2009 and 2010 runs. It would just be nice to take the older one, but don't see it happening. I wish I was more car savvy, I love driving them but not too car smart. I always looking to learn but just not enough time in the day with work and family. Maybe someday. Anyways thanks for the feedback.

Well, I wanna drive the '79 (Little Red TA) and need to put a window whatchmacallit in the driver's side window so it goes up and down correctly and starts and stops at the right place (crank windows). Perhaps a water pump- this one is beginning to "weep" a little water on the pavement after a trip. Maybe change the oil, check the rearend dope and tire air pressure... get the CB ready (already installed) just need to check the antenna and external speaker mounted on the console.
Anyway, not a lot to do... oh yeah... paint the trim on the driver's side T-Top since it was replaced, they don't match. By the way... if anyone's interested... black duck tape works really, really well on the T-Tops - keeps them from leaking and absolutely stops all wind noise!
Dang - I need to stop typing, I m thinking of things i need to do while Im texting.
Needs a thermostat - cause it don't have one. Needs a new AM/FM radio antenna. Needs the AC charged. Needs an oil gauge that works.
Ok - that's enough dang stuff - just fill 'er up with gas and check the fluids and GO !!

I drove my 79 for the first time today. In fact car was last registered in 2001 according to the safety sticker, so it has been a while. Other then 1st being 2nd, 2nd being 1st, 3rd being 4th and 4th being 3rd....it shifts great. It overheated so still have some work to do.Any day above ground is a GOOD day!!!

The car is at body and paint, should be done in mid December. After tax season get engine and tranny redone. Then send interior off to my friends parents to reupholster. New audio, and rims and tires, and redesign hood bird, get Super Chicken lettering for spoiler. Hopefully can join day 3 of the bandit run, outta Tennessee.
How's the project coming along? Hope to see the car on the run this year.

I need to maybe look into a laeky pinion seal and change the rear end lube.
Double check CB install and make sure it's going to work.
Most all the things will be checked out when I get it ouat storage and drive it to the dealership and put it up on my lift. (The guys at work are drawn to it like moths to a flame!)
I can't wait to drive my old friend once again.

When you get it up on the lift and they are all around, pull out a roll of silver duck tape just to get the question: "whatchu gonna use that for?".
Then tell them it's for the T-Tops.

Got the cruise control fixed (sure didn't want to have to peddle it for 1000 miles to Texarkana) and had the AC checked yesterday. Think I got a slow leak so I'll check it again before the Run, might need it in that Gulf Coast humidity.1977 Y82

heck then tell them it's for the right rear tire.
Just tell 'em anything...they'll believe you for awhile ... just how long will determine...well you'll figure out the rest...
it'll be funny.... trust me.
