Thanks, Brad. I'm really looking forward to having it on the 'Run this year.
I bought it from the brother of the original owner (who had passed away several years earlier in a motorcycle accident) back in 1988 while I was living in California. I almost passed on the car as it was well worn and every single part needed to be repainted, replated, repaired, refurbished, or replaced. The after-market American sunroof t-tops didn't help.
I decided to go ahead with it because it was 95% complete, numbers matching, and a Brewster green car. I was able to save up enough money and I had a restoration done in 1995-96. I was always concerned at car shows when I saw restored Brewster green cars as I always thought the color was too bright...almost like it had a bit of candy in it. We carefully color-matched the original paint on the inside front cowl underneath a fender and went with single stage instead f base coat/clear coat. Here's a shot a few months after the restoration (the wheels looked so nice, I couldn't bring myself to put the trim rings back on it).

It's showing it's age but still turns a few heads!

I just ordered some Kooks headers and true dual exhaust set up for my Firehawk.
Can't wait to get them on the car so I can make loud noises like the rest of the Runners out there.

OMG, I'm going to steal that one liner for sure! Just as soon as I get the Diet Coke off my keyboard and out of my sinuses!

Well, I finally sat down and added up the cost of the Bandit Run. Between fuel, hotel rooms, food, and miscellaneous, there's no way I can justify driving both the '73 and the '76 Trans Ams.
As a matter of fact, I've had to make the heartbreaking decision not to take either one. After all of the work done up to this point, it's really disappointing but I must face economic facts.
I'm still going but will take one of my more fuel efficient rides:

Hey Stan,
I guess we'll have to put the Firehawks together and play a little game of which Hawks louder.
I think everyone wins that game in the end.
Now I just need to figure out a mount for my CB antenna...

And so another seemingly innocent adventure begins. The last time this happened was about 2:42 am in Daytona. The hotel folks weren't real happy. I think some other folks might like to play along with us. Is this standing still or driving by? Who will be the judge?GTO Stan
