Actually, this is the way the car came from the factory! Or at least it was available this way - this car has the factory-issued Coupe Pickup bed, not anaftermarket item. These conversions WERE available during WW II, but they were available on new cars before the war as well. The bed was standard on the coupe Delivery model and a seperate trunk lid was an additional option! It's unusual to find one based on the Master line, since it was mostly ordered on the Standard-series cars. I have to wonder whether this stareted out as a Standard and was upgraded during restoration or someone retrofitted the Coupe Pickup's box to a Master Coupe at that time.

This one has the pickup trunk conversion. These were very popular modifications during WW II because if you had a pickup truck rather than a car you got extra gas rations.
