Simply known as "5,999", this is the newest known surviving Corvair. This was the next-to-last Corvair off the line on May 14, 1969, the last day of Corvair production. Legend has it that this car wouldn't start to be driven off the line for ceremony concluding Corvair production, so it had to be pushed out of the way so the last car, an Olympic Gold Monza coupe, could be driven out into the sunshine. Number 6,000 has disappeared from sight - legend has it that it's locked away in some GM warehouse.
