Photos in the “Ocean City Maryland Car Show & Cruise May 20-21-2011” Album
- Description: On May 20, 2011, my Son Martin, his friend Lucas, and I (Ben Deutschman), left New Jersey for a 5-1/2 hour ride down to a Car Show/Cruise Night, in a place called Ocean City, located in Maryland. The trip was a bit of a soggy one, with rain dominating 4 of the 5-1/2 hour ride, but when we arrived in Ocean City, it was definitely worth the trip. Entering into the Island City from Rt 90, we stepped into a scene that could be best described as like driving right on to the set of the movie American Graffiti. The main road, Rt 50, was almost entirely populated with Street Rods, Hotrods, Antiques and Classics from the 30's to present. Tired as we were, we checked into our Motel (the Sea Bonnet), and jumped right back in my Son's car (a 1987 Olds Cutlass), and spent the next 3-4 hours, cruising the strip, stopping occasionally to take photos and talk with our fellow automotive enthusiasts, and the cruise some more. There were stoplight to stoplight drags, tire melting burnouts, and a whole bunch of folks with all types of vehicles just having a great time showing off their vehicles.
The next morning (Saturday), we got up, ate breakfast, and then went to the main Expo Center in Ocean City to see some of the Show vehicles there, and afterward, we traveled down to the inlet Parking Lot, where we viewed countless more vehicles. At the Inlet Parking Lot part of the Show, there were displays, to name a few, from GM Performance, Spectre, Summit, Meguiars, and Tremic Transmissions. Once done touring the second part of the Show, we joined in on the ongoing Cruise down the strip, on our way home, and once again, felt like we'd driven on to the set of American Graffiti. This is, without a doubt, is a must see event.
