Early Z's (1970?) had the differential mounted further forward that later Z's. This required a shorter driveshaft. A lot of people with early Z's have since relocated the differential and no longer require the shorter driveshaft. It just so happens that the shorter driveshaft is just the right length to work with the longer 71C gearbox, so if you can find one of these early driveshafts, you're all set. Otherwise, you will need to have your driveshaft shortened by 30mm. Note: my original picture showed the early driveshaft as 700mm long. This was a mistake! It's 720mm. I've corrected the picture.
