Ernie Adams Dwarf Car

Monday, April 8th, 2013

Working on his property in Arizona, Adams is building cars. It’s hard to tell without another car for reference, but as you can see in the images above, 72-year-old Ernie Adams drives a very small car. Actually, the technical name is a “dwarf car,” a road-legal nearly-perfect replica of a full-sized car, and Adams built it from scratch. He’s been building dwarf cars since 1965 – all of them from scratch, by hand. Adams was apparently the first to do it.

A Dwarf Car is the end result of a dream Ernie Adams had. Ernie made his dream a reality by taking the design of early model cars and scaling them down to a smaller size.

At the insistence of excited fans, Ernie built a 1949 Mercury sedan Dwarf. This wide-bodied, low riding Mercury is fully decked out. With all its hand made chrome and amazing detail, people are awestruck at Ernie’s craftsmanship.

Here is a link to a Youtube video you might enjoy. It’s six minutes long.

Can you find the year, make, model, and owner? Quote from the owner “You can beat it in the looks or popular department, but chances are you won’t beat it at the dragstrip. :-) No that is not a radiator at the front of the car, it is an intercooler for the turbo.”

Good luck,
Jerry

Mystery Car of the Day (Aug 30, 2010)

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Can you find the year, make, model, and owner? Quote from the owner “I’ve had this car for 20 years. It was my high school ride. My brother gave it to me after it was wrecked, I had to replace the entire right side.
Then when I was in the Navy and got transferred to Hawaii, it got stored at my brother’s for 12 years before I was able to get it back. Needless to say time and weather has taken a toll. Currently I am replacing the floor boards and trunk. Then will come the quarter skins, paint and a new interior.”

Good luck,
Jerry

Look for us every year at the UF homecoming parade in Gainesville, FL. The cheerleaders ride this truck. The main picture is from the 2006 homecoming parade for the University of Florida Gators in Gainesville Florida.”

Jerry

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Can you find the year, make, model, and owner? Quote from the owner “It came out of a bodyshop/junkyard. It was totaled and sat for
about twenty years till I bought it, then the journey began. It still has a salvaged title, hence the license plate.
I started working on my car in 1993. What you see is my artwork, my car is my canvas. It ain’t perfect, but I did it. I did everything with the help of some friends except the paint and upholstery.”

Good luck,
Jerry

Mystery Car of the Day (Aug 17, 2010)

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Can you find the year, make, model, and owner? Quote from the owner “I recently bought this truck from a car collector in Overton, NE. He bought this truck for $3000 in 2004. The guy he bought it from put in a 327ci engine from a 1967 corvette. About 2 months before I bought the truck from him he took the three on the tree and put it on the floor because the linkages had been worn out and needed replaced. He also put Rally wheels and tires on the truck as well as a little interior work. This is a fun truck to drive and I hope you guys like it.”

Good luck,
Jerry

Can you find the year, make, model, and owner? Quote from the owner “I bought this car in 1991 as a former race car and have owned it ever since. My dad and I have painted it twice, with me doing the layout of the flames. This Camaro is seriously modified as I’m just not into original cars.”
