Mystery Car of the Day (Sep 04, 2010)

September 4th, 2010 by JerryandMary

Can you find the year, make, model, and owner? Quote from the owner “Not much to say I just Purchaced this Wagon at a Auction in June of 2010. This is a Arizona car that was in storage in a barn in Milford NE. For once I found a project with solid flors to start with I can’t wait to start the restore job.”

Good luck,
Jerry

  1. CorvairJim says:

This is an example of the ever-popular Chevy Nomad’s lesser-known, higher-style cousin, a 1955 Pontiac Safari. They shared a basic underbody, including the iconic swept-pillar roof, but the other body panels were all Pontiac. It rides on a Pontiac chassis which is several inches longer than the Chevrolet frame; You can see the difference in length in the front fender dogleg. This was to allow room for the Pontiac straight-8 engine which, as I recall, was entering it’s final year of production. This soon to be restored example is JackTaff’s “Safari”
