This is an example of the ever-popular Chevy Nomad's lesser-known, higher-style cousin, a 1955 Pontiac Safari. They shared a basic underbody, including the iconic swept-pillar roof, but the other body panels were all Pontiac. It rides on a Pontiac chassis which is several inches longer than the Chevrolet frame; You can see the difference in length in the front fender dogleg. This was to allow room for the Pontiac straight-8 engine which, as I recall, was entering it's final year of production. This soon to be restored example is JackTaff's "Safari"
