1951 Ford F-1 RAT ROD (CHOPPED 51)
Last updated Apr 29, 2012
This is the LATEST addition to my Garage.
It is a 51 Ford F-1 or at least that is what it started out as and still resembles, somewhat.
Long story short...
My Best Friend in High School and Jr. High I guess, well his dad built a 1948 Ford F-1 when we got out of High School and I wanted that truck SO BAD, but I was a teenage kid and I did NOT have that kind of money. But I still LOVED that truck none-the-less!
Time has moved on and he sold the truck by the time I got back home after serving 4 years in the Army.
I sent a picture of the Ole Yella truck to a very dear Hot Rod friend of mine and told him that it is a DREAM of mine to get that old truck or possibly build one like it.
One day I got a phone call from Jimmie and he said he had found the PERFECT truck for me and thought maybe I could get into it by doing some swapping and trading on my 53 Chevy and a 59 Apache BIG Back Glass Short Wheelbase truck that I have.
Well NOW I have the Chopped 51 and Jimmie has my old 53.
I will post a pic of the Ole Yella 48 F-1 also as it is the MEMORIES of that truck that put me on this path.
Malvins Ole Yella had a Nova Subframe and Rear end under it along with a Smallblock Chevy and a Tunnel Ram with 2 Fours.
My Chopped 51 is not quite to that caliber as it retains its stock Straight Axle BUT it sports a 351W and a C4 with a 9 inch rear end. I need to get the GLASS cut for it as I still have Plexi in the holes now for templates.
It is a VERY SLOW and EXPENSIVE process trying to maintain all of these toys, so I am trying to take it one step at a time.
I have added a set of Old School Looking American Racing Gray Torque Thrust Wheels to it since I have gotten it home and I have BIG plans for it in the future.
As you can see... My 3 year old Grandson has staked a claim to this one. It is all GOOD!
My daughter and my son BOTH grew up in the HOT ROD world!
So, he came by it HONEST!
Flat Black Paint
Red Pinstriped Flames
The cab has been CHANNELED down onto the frame also.
It is SHORT & SWEET!
American Racing Gray Torque Thrust Wheels
I have a set of Old School Aluminum Slots that I have PLANNED to go on the truck in the FUTURE...
BUT I still have quite a bit of POLISHING to do on them before they are READY.
