About
This was a 1965 Falcon Futura 2 door hardtop with a 289 v8. I purchased the car in 1981 after seeing it parked on a sidesteet local to my home. It was in very rough condition and there was not a panel on it that had not been rusted. Having never done much bodywork bondo was my savior this time. As you can see I did manage to get it cosmetically to an acceptable appearance even in primer, enough to get a shot in front of it with my wife now of 25+ years. .
This was my second 65 Futura, the first being in college and a convertible. The 62 VW I was driving needed to be replaced and I bought the 1965 Falcon in 1970 while starting college. I traded it in for a 1971 MG Midget, my first new car.
My passion with this model goes back to when I was 14 and my girlfriends mother came home one night with a new 1965 Futura hardtop. Taken by its looks and potential as a hot rod it was a car I have always gone back to!
The car got sold to a local fellow who converted it or at least wanted to into a drag car.
