Description: While Rose and I were on vacation at our timeshare in the Poconos this past October, we visited the friend of ours who had bought my '66 Corvair Monza, "Ashley", from us in August of last year. He told me that the car didn't seem to be running right, so I offered to check it out and see if there was anything wrong. He suggested I take it for a few days to get a good feel of how it's running, and I jumped at the chance! My first reaction was to be kind of disturbed that 1) he hadn't even begun the restoration that he said he had planned for it and 2) it was parked outdoors under a carport instead of in a garage - He has plenty of garage space. It was parked with the driver's window halfway down, so the interior was dusty and dirty, and there was some mold and mildew on the rug and seat belts. I spent an hour cleaning the car before we ever took it out on the road. Long story short, the only thing wrong with the car was that he drives like a little old lady, and just doesn't know how to get the most out of a performance car! About 10 miles into our drive back to the timeshare, we got caught about 5 cars back in traffic moving about 35 in a 45 zone. When we got to a passing zone, I downshifted to 2nd from 4th, signaled left and planted my foot in it. By the time we got to the front of the line, ol' Ashley was motoring along at about 70 per! Nothing wrong with that!
