1968 Chevrolet Impala (The 68)
Last updated Sep 14, 2009
This is the car mom and dad got when I was 13. Dad knew he was going to give it to me but I didn't till three years later.
I raced the hell out of this car when I was 17. Top end (for me and with the hood off) was 140 mph and as far as we could tell it ran a 14.8 in the 1/4. My favorite was the Mustang GTs in the late 80s. I could beat them but I couldn't beat a GN. So my big ol 4800 lb car could beat those slippery little cars...they were shocked. I loved it. Then I got the snot beat out of me by like a 78 Nova hatchback thing. I didn't know what a sleeper was.
In 87 it got parked for 4 years while I was in the Army. When I got back I went a little nuts and pretty much destroyed my Impala. Striped it and put a most ridiculous tunnel ram on it. No AC no power steering, no sway bar, no inner fender wells, and the batt in the trunk. I hate myself for doing that. It ended up in my aunts back yard from 97 to 05. Planed on starting over with it and the time finaly came and I went to get it. My aunt is old and didn’t know that some kids had thrown a log through my wind shield years ago. So it had been open to the elements for a few years. I drug it home but have never gotten the bug..or the money and time to try to fix it back up. I get sick just writing this.
It had a 307 with a three on the tree. We put in a good little 350 w/ 4 bbl and duals.
