After selling my 1972 Ford Mustang - Mach 1 show car back in 2003 and trippling my investment at the same time, I turned around and began my search for my dream car... a 1969 Mustang - Mach 1.
It took over 5 months to find the perfect candidate. Searching for days and nights and hours and hours on the internet... I finally found the perfect car to purchase. I found this car in a online ad and not on ebay. I purchased it out of South Carolina based upon excellent photographs and emailing back and forth from the owner. I had it shipped here to Cibolo, Texas (San Antonio Area) on an open trailer. I named her "Carolina" hince where she came from. Within a few days, I was already taking her apart... knowing it would be a couple of years until this resto was completed. This car was basically a rust free car which is what I was searching for from the very beginning. It was definitely in "driver" condition and needed a complete restoration to get it to the quality I was looking for. My goals for this car were extremely high. I wanted to own the most awesome 69 stang restomod around... starting with a custom 3-stage kandy paint job. I ended up doing about 80% of the work on the car myself.
In just 5 years of "car showing" at many prestigious car shows including "Mustang Roundup" (one of the largest mustang car shows in Texas up in Austin, Texas), my 69 Stang has won 19 "Best of Shows" and well over 40 "1st Place" awards, and 6 "Best Paint" awards.
Gezzz... it's so difficult to get me to go to a car show... haha! The candy is pleasing to look at... and I am not talking about those candy paint jobs either.
