Description: Update to my Prized Chevelle, I came home to Kansas for my R&R from the Army so I could go Whitetail Deer hunting and Work on my Chevelle. Well as you can see from my other Albums I did a decent bit of work on it in the two weeks I had home. On what was to be my last night home Kayleigh's dad invited us over to my last dinner at home. He cooked Sirloin Steaks, Deer Steaks and Pork Chops, Talli (Kayleigh's Sister) cooked her semi-famous Fried red potatoes (which are incredible!) and since mike had been inching to drive my Chevelle since the day I started Paying on it, I decided to let him take it down the road and back as long as I was with him, figuring he won't go too fast on dirt roads considering I had just survived a terrible wreck just the December before. Well we made it down to the neighbors with fine, went a little faster than I cared for, but not bad. I had planned on driving back, but he put it in reverse and was backing out the drive before I could say anything. Well when he slid around the corner going back to his house he fish tailed it a little and then straightened out. But he wasn't done, he sped up some and then gunned it again, and of course it'd fish tail a little and straighten out. he did this three or four time and the second to last time he almost put it in the ditch and I said " WOAH, do that to hard and we WILL go in the ditch!" and about that time he goosed it hard and it fish tailed violently and slammed nose first into the left ditch, Instantly flipping it end over end and then it went into a roll and rolled two or three times and came to a stop on the driver's side. I remember thinking I was going to die, and was disappointed that I wasn't driving. When it stopped and I realized I was alive I crawled/walked out of the back seat and through where the windshield should've been. I started Hollering for mike, figuring he had to of been ejected, and that when I heard him faintly say " I'm right here" when I looked my training kicked in I didn't look at him as my future father in law or the guy that just about killed me in my own car, I saw a battle buddy that was wounded and needing help. His head and left arm were pinned between the roof of the car and the ditch. So the first thing I did was try and push the car enough so that he could pull his head out. But I could only push it up two or three inches. So I started digging with my hands until I could reach my arm under him. Once he was unpinned I told him I needed him to pull his head in and sit up. But he said he was still pinned. I was confused so I looked in the car and he was completely free in there as well, so I said I would help him, so I used one hand to try and stabilize his head and neck while being a gentle as I could about pushing him by the shoulder back into the car. I remember feeling a crunchy grinding feeling as i pushed him and could only think of a deer that had been shot through the shoulder. He was in pain and told me as much but once he was inside the car he said he needed a break so he just kind of laid in the car for a few seconds. Then I told him we needed to get him outta there so he tried sitting up but didn't seem to have the strength, at that time I was worried he was paralyzed so ask him if he could move his feet and legs for me. He did so with a bit of effort, and so I told him I was going to help him sit up and then get out of the car. He tried to sit up with me helping but couldn't so I reached in and tucked my arms under his with his head against my neck and sat him up. Then I helped him move his legs over the steering wheel and out the windshield. Once he was ready I tucked my arms under his and leaned his head against my neck again and lifted him up and out of the car. He almost instantly fell to his knees but I slowed him and put his arm over my shoulders and held it with one hand while I held him with my other arm. I told him we needed to get back to the house, and he said he didn't think he could make it, but he would try. After maybe a step or two and put most of his weight on me and told me he couldn't do it and I would have to go get a car to pick him up. So I slowly let him down and had him kneel and lean forward so that he could be in the recovery position because I was assuming he had broken ribs from the wreck. Once I he was steady I told him I would be back real soon and would take care of him. His house was about 300 yards away but I didn't notice that at the time I just torn off sprinting and I didn't let up until I was maybe 20 yards from the house. I saw Kayleigh standing on the porch and I hollered "Get the car, your dad is hurt." and she holler what happened all I could say was " Rolled it" cause by then I was to the house and by body was telling I was out of gas to run and talk. Talli came out a second later and said she'd have to take out the kid's car seat, but since how she's a few months pregnant and moved a little slow for me I ran around the other side of the car and got that car seat out. I remember getting slightly pissed when she said to lay down the piece of carpet across the back seat so her dad wouldn't bleed on it. But as Kayleigh got in I started to worry about mike, I’d been gone to long - it might of been 2-3 mins but it felt like forever. So I hauled ass back to mike and I rolled the carpet out the door and helped him stand up and half walk half drag him to the door and had him sit down and slide back a bit and lay down. Once he was I went to the other side and pulled him all the way over and had him pull his legs up so we could close both doors. I think heading to the hospital was the most nerve racking cautious driving I have even done.
