1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator (Cat 2)
Last updated Nov 8, 2007
I owned my 69 CJ428 Eliminator and a 69 CJ428 Mustang Mach 1. I needed a more family friendly car so I sold the Mustang (the slower of the two CJ cars) and bought a 1970 Eliminator with the stock 351C-4v and air conditioning as my new family travel car. It had 3.00 gears and would get 18mpg on the highway. This was in 1972. I still have both Eliminators.
I have the Marti report and the window sticker on this car too. It has the 351 Cleveland four bbl engine rated at 300bhp
Air conditioning was the main option I wanted and it's got it.
I have put a ram air system on it (off of a CJ car), a holley carb takes the place of the stock autolight, it has MSD ignition, and Hooker headers. I replaced the FMS automatic with a C6, and the 3.00 non-traction lock rear with a 3.50 traction lock.
