1972 Mercury COUGAR XR7 CONVERTIBLE (KITTY)
Last updated Sep 1, 2009
Cougar was bought off ebay in 2001. I am the third owner. It was bought with 70,000 original mile.
First owner was in the military and sent the car to Ohio. where he let his girlfriend drive it. She put a dent in the right side. His dad who had power of attorney then sold the car to a young 19 year old girl. She bought it because it was a Mercury and being the blacksheep of a family who all owned GM convertibles.
She drove the car for 3 summers putting less than 4.000 miles on the car. She fell in love, got married, and had kids. The car sat from about 1991 to July of 2001. It had beeen given yaerly oil changes and run occassionally.
I than purchase the car and cleaned and tuned it up. In December of 2001 I sent it to a guy who then did a frame on restorating for the next 5 months. The restoration included rechromed bumpers, reproduction door panels, correct color done with base coat clear coat, and a new top. Over the last few years I have added dual exhaust and Keystone Classics. The Keystones are soon to be changed out for correct Kelsey Hayes Rally Wheels
