Yes Jim, it is a lot of fun, if you aren't wearing a seatbelt I believe the lateral g-force would throw you out of the car in the corners. CD

Damn, that thing looks like FUN! I've heard that Lotus 7s are a blast, so since this was meant to be in the same vein I don't see how it could be any less! thumbsup image

1973 Blakely Bantam ("Gorilla")

Last updated Mar 14, 2011

Photo of a 1973 Blakely Bantam ("Gorilla")

Supposedly only 73 of this model made, both as a kit and a few factory built. An engineer by the name of
Dick Blakely designed and engineered this car as America's answer to the British Lotus Super 7

Originally this vin#00007 was factory built before modifications for racing.

I have owned this car for 36 years.

A gentleman by the name of Philipe Charest of Canada and myself started a Blakely blog a couple of years ago to try to unite the few Blakely owners out there. Please go to
for further information and pictures of my other Blakely Bantam etc.

1100 lbs with 250 hp

0-60 around 4 sec.

top speed? depends on rear gears I have in at the time.
