About
This is the first car my wife and purchased together on our second year of marriage.
We didn't have a huge income and were driving an old Studebaker Lark. When she came home one evening from College saying she was not going to drive the Stude' anymore because of shifter problems she had experienced I took her immediately down to the Chevrolet dealership and for fours hours dealt with the salesman to negotiate the final price.
The car has been in the family every since and traveled all over the country.
When the transmission started to give problems, I retired it off the road and began a rebuild to present it to our son in his senior year of highschool.
The mechanical aspects were all done by myself, the body paint stripped, the interior gutted and was sent to the paint shop for new color ( original of course ). Needless to say , the body and paint shop didn't finish it in time for my son's senior year, so I decided to use it myself as a daily driver since #1 son has now married and has other responsibilities.
The engine is the original block built up with 11:1 compression, balanced piston and crank assembly, 750 Holley, aluminum intake and Alumicoat headers Dyno'd to 400 HP. Not quite stock anymore but it real blast to drive and plenty of offers at the stop lights.
