- That's so cool! I was about a year younger than you are right now when I started the restoration on my '69 Beetle (Papa Smurph), and I still have the car. Be careful, though: My sister asked a friend of hers who was into cars to come by and maybe give me some advice or even help me out some, and I wound up marrying the guy!

About
I found my bay on Craigslist. After about 3 years of realy wanting a VW bus I couldnt resist. She sat in a field in Iowa for 16 years after the owner became paralized after a tractor accident. She didnt fire but would turn over. I spent 3k to:
* replace carbs, fuel pump, distributor and tune engine
* remove emissions and repair exhaust and intake leaks
* remove fuel tank and repair leak
* replace rear brake assembles w/ Vanagon self adjusting brakes
* replace emergency brake cables and repair hoses
* change oil and adjust valves
* replace defective axle and boots
* replace shifter and bushings
* replace master cylinder
* replace tires and rims
Specs
my engine: a little slow stock 1700 cc
