1974 Plymouth Duster 318 base (Yellow Duster)
Last updated Aug 6, 2015
I found this Duster for sale in a shed in Colorado that was pretty much stripped bare, down the metal. It was a project that the previous owner lost interest. The Duster is in really good condition for its age, it only had one cancer spot about the size of a quarter, easy fix.
It came with a 318 motor but I've decided to put the 360 from the 88' ram in it instead, the 360 is going to be modified quite a bit, I'm also going to put a Torqueflite A999 (beefed up 904) from a former cop car (Dodge Diplomat) in it as well after a rebuild and shift kit installation.
This is currently a work in progress.
1990 roller cammed 360 cu
Estimated 380+ hp when finished.
3.21 to gear ratio.
Manual disk brakes
Lower geared torqueflite A999 transmission with TF-2 shift kit.
1990 roller cammed 360 cu.
Speed pro flat topped pistons 9.8 to 1 comp. ratio.
Comp 995 Dual valve spring set.
Comp mutha thumpr cam, 291THR7 grind: .522 int./.509 exh lift
Magnum Air Gap Dual Plane Aluminum Intake Manifold with Edelbrock 650 AVS.
Cleaned up and milled mopar 308 swirl port heads.
Hooker Headers with dual 2 1/2" magnaflow mufflers.
I am going to switch to aluminum magnum cylinder heads later when I have more cash which will bump the compression to around 10+ to 1.
Will also change out the camshaft soon as well, so it can idle better
