- An unmarked LeSabre? That's a great story about the car. I wish I could fall into deals like that. There's something I like about full-size performance cars.

- We'll have to rematch sometime. both times I lost to you by 1 point, and both times I gave you the performance points, to keep it honest. Great matchups. Good luck this month.

About
(DISCLAIMER: The car pictured above and in the album IS NOT the actual car I owned in the mid-1980's! I have no pictures of the actual car; I found this one, and the similar cars in the photo album, online.)
Believe it or not, this tank was a former Police unmarked! A local Police department siezed it as a drug confiscation and decided to hold onto it instead of auctioning it off. After all, who would flash on a LeSabre hardtop as an unmarked? It already had a tuned 4-barrel 455 with dual exhausts (and as I found out after I bought it, no catalytic converters - the cops were running the thing with an illegal exhaust system!), so they just added some Police-spec suspension components, tires (mounted on the chrome Buick Rallye wheels that were on the car!), radio, and a shotgun rack and called it good.
When I bought it, all the radio gear and the gun rack had been removed, as were the chrome rims. It seems the chief wanted them on his personal cruiser! So I bought a Maroon-over-White '76 LeSabre with dog dish hubcaps mounted on dark blue steelies - very patriotic! On the way home from buying the car, I stopped off at a local junkyard and bought a set of '73 Buick full wheel covers to replace the poverty caps, and then I hit a parts store for some maroon spray paint to repaint the wheels. A weekend spent detailing it and doing some pinstriping and you'd never know it had served as a Police car... Until it blew your doors off! That big ol' Buick could pass anything but a gas station!
