1977 Pontiac Trans Am 400 - 4spd (Trans AM No. 1)
Last updated Jan 23, 2012
This is TA No. 1 The first Trans AM I owned! It is a little grainy, but I think it is the only photo I have of it.
I bought it when it was 1 year old in 1978 with only 4,000 miles on it for $4,500.00 from the original owner.
I was a little new to the TA world back then and I didn't know they all came standard with a Limited Slip rear axle. So to be sure it had one, on the test drive I lit them up for about 50 feet, stopped the car and got out to see what was on the road. Two nice black strips! So we drove back to the owners house and I sealed the deal!!
And yes I refinished the wheels that are on it.
It came with Rally II's and I found a set of used 15x7 snowflakes that a friend had removed from his SE. So I bought them for $150.
A little paint and polishing and they were perfect!!!
I was 20 years old at that time.
It was my 6th car.
Before it I owned
- 1965 Ford Falcon 4dr (My first car) $75 200 Six - Auto C4
- 1969 Chevrolet Impala Custom Coupe 327 Power Glide
- 1970 Dodge Coronet 318 Auto
- 1973 Pontiac Catalina 400 Auto
- 1970 Nova SS 350 Auto
W72 400 - 4spd
It was a pretty low option car.
W72 - Pontiac 400 - TA 6.6
Standard Black Interior
Came with Rally II's
I added the 15x7 Snowflakes
