Been gone wayyy too long! I completely dismantled the undercarriage on my 77 Trans Am in July of 2008 and have been doing an on / off again under body restoration since. I wasn't planning on rebuilding the engine but once I pulled the oil pan, I saw a scuffed cylinder which led to a binding wrist pin, which led to a .030 bore and complete overhaul. And around $1500 extra dollars I wasn't planning on!! lol! (I did most of the rebuild work myself thankfully, otherwise would have been much more).

I just got the engine and transmission back in this weekend and will hopefully have her cranked in the next couple weeks. I only have one full day a week to work on her so it takes me a while to get everything done ... as you can tell. ;)

Once the engine is started and everything is ok there, I can put the fenders and front end back on. Timeframe .... probably another month out total. I did want to give an update. I took tons of detailed photos of the process so hopefully I can post some of those here once I wind down the project. I miss driving her and now that it is getting close, I miss it that much more!

Have a great week everyone!

September 1, 2008

Wow....What can I say. Today truly is a sad day for us music lovers and car buffs......especially of course the Smokey and The Bandit movie fans.

Everyone knows of Jerry Reed but this interview I ran across last year ....here.. www.puremusic.com/reed1.html tells a differnet side I didn't know about him. It was written in 2005 when his last cd, the LIVE one came out.

Jerry may have had his rowdy days but rest assured he still knew who was in charge. I loved reading this little part I didn't know about him. I feel changed in some ways due to his testimony. What a man and musician.

Rest in peace Jerry. We will miss you sooo much. And many prayers and blessings to your family right now also. See you in heaven buddy!

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

PM: I'd love a good conversion story, if there is one. Maybe you'll talk a little about your faith.

JR: Well, I'll guarantee you, the days of my youth, I was raised in church, and I got away from it for many, many years. But you can't stay away from Jesus. Believe me, you just can't do it. Somewhere down the road, you've got to put two and two together, and realize that this existence down here is just like a vapor, you're here and then you're gone.

And where are you going to spend eternity? Well, I'm going to spend it with God. That's where I'm going to spend my days. I hope I run into Chet and Merle and them guys, and can play rhythm for them again.
