1978 Cadillac Sedan DeVille (The Statement)
Last updated Jan 1, 2013
I saw this car on line in September. I contacted the seller in November and it was still available. I drove it and made an offer the owner reluctantly accepted. I guess three months of 'no sale' wore him down. The car is sound but has some issues that need to be addressed. I think I'll take care of the most obvious and drive the car to simply "make a statement".
The car is from a different time in automotive history. It was the second year of what was to become known as Cadillac's downsizing. By todays stndards it is a big car, but it was not seen as such in 1978. It has a proven 425 V-8, generally aknowledged as a dependable power unit. It is well appointed with leather, tilt wheel, cruise, thermostat control heat and power antenna. It is a comfortable ride that delivers the true boulavard ride that the Cadillacs of the era were known for.
This car has what was almost certainly the top of the line option package in 1978. It is a comfortable ride well equipted. Cruise, air, tilt, leather, power everything, and rear window defroster. It is not a hot rod, but a respectable luxury automobile.
This car is bone stock - the way I like it.
