Description: My original 78 Trans Am was red hardtop with a 400 & turbo 350 tranny. I got it when I turned 16 back in 1988. During my Senior year, I blew the engine so I spend most of it in autoshop rebuilding my engine. During which, I had cut in a popup sunroof. Then drove around for several months with it all primered. Then got it painted red. After high school I continued dumping every paycheck I made into the car supeing it up one way or another. Around 1991 I had painted the car Teal. This lasted a few years but then I started a family & got a new car & this one sat rotting away. By the time 2000 came around, it was too rotted out to repair. A friend of mine had spotted a 1980 TransAm w/ T-Tops with the body & interior in excellent condition which I bought. I really do not like the look of the headlights & tail lights on the 80 or any other year T/A besides the 78 look. So before I sent my 78 out to the junkyard, I took the nose, rear bumper & spoiler then swapped it with the 80. I also pulled the engine & trans from the 78 & put it in the 80. So now I have an 80 Trans Am that looks like a 78. I have several pictures of the project over the years that I need to find & as I find them I will upload it to this album. The car is now garaged and I have a few things left to do on it to consider it complete, I just need to find the time to do it.
