1979 Chevrolet Corvette L-82 (wild L-82)

I have had this vette since 1990 I bought it from a friend who love to drive it, but didn't take care of it so I had to go through it. He purchased it from the origional owner a cop, who had it repainted before he sold it, but when I received it is a cold spring day in March of 90 and it was parked in his driveway, with snow on it, two flat tire, rusted out mufflers peeling paint, and yes micky d wrappers on the floor boards. I drove it home, without any brakes, had to man I just bought my first Vette! and then I started the renewing of this beauty......I started with the brakes and exhaust and then went to paint and interior, after that was all completed I rebuilt the motor and steering, and still today continue to replace and modify things as needed and as wanted I am in the process of putting header sidepipes on it and removing the ground effects, I am going for the 70's retro look, tha texplains the new cragars (oversized) on it. We went to Car Craft Street Machine Nationals in DuQuion Il for many years, that was our yearly car show.
This car has the origional 350 block and steel crank, I replaced the heads during the rebuild due to severe cracking, I put GM performance heads on it with 202 valves and small chambers. It hosts a edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock 4bbl carb. headers and and a noisey gear drive. never been to the track. The vette runs out hard and strong and is a blast to drive.
The vette hosts PS, PB, AC, tilt telescoping wheel, PW, locks, mirror t-tops, cruise, rear defogger, which is no longer needed.
Engine mods heads, intake and carb, gear drive, headers, mds ignition. engine chrome and aluminum. Stainlees steel brake lines and performance calipers and brake pads. It also carries a 1982 read vette bumper cover with the spoiler built into it. It has a 78 style front spoiler and ground effects that are coming off to host side pipes, it currently has Super Trapp SS mufflers on it. The car also has new carpet set nd a custom made velour grey interior. Pioneer supertuner and blaupunk speakers. Cragar SS rims 15" x 8" front and 15" x 10" rear with goodyear eagles, yes eagles they are starting to show their age I am planning to update them in the next year or so, haven't decided what I will run yet. OK, now let me explain the paint, when I received this car it was a cheap repaint of the factory dark blue met. and so I stripped and preped it for paint and when with black, although I do my own paint I had, yes had a friend who was just starting a body shop and doing the new (back then is was new ) base coat clear coat and when I got it back it was very "wrong" so I drove it the first year with the black and the following winter stripped it down again and started over this time I decided to go with candy brandywine over a gold base color. I was looking over the gold base on Sunday evening, knowing I didn't have time to paint it I was daydreaming and though what would this car look like with ghost flames (I know they are not ghost flames), so I started taping it and then I became excited and kept going. I was thinking about what color to put on the flames and looking through my paint cabnet I found this candy green that I was given because I went to buy a quart of candy purple for a bike and when I opened it, it was green! So the rest is history......
