1979 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 (Little Red TA)
Last updated Mar 25, 2015
Bought in 2000 off car lot in Tucker, GA. Local Atlanta car in good condition. Son drove to high school until graduating in 2003. Wrecked once. Put front clip back on car and another engine was installed the next year. Very good, reliable car. Has been driven all over eastern 1/2 of USA. The car was driven on the first two Bandit Runs (2007 & 08), Cruise the Coast, Good Guys, etc.! "Blue", the '78 in this garage, made the 2009 & 2010 runs. Little Red TA made the 2011, 2012, 2013 runs also. So much fun! In 2014, Little Red made the first inaugural Snowman's Run from Daytona Beach to Savannah to Charleston to Darlington to Charlotte (Rock Hill) for the beginning of the Hot Rod Power Tour. This year, the 2015 Snowman's Run to benefit Wounded Veterans, will go from Hogansville (ATL) to Trans Am Depot (Tallahassee FL) to FT Walton Beach (Eglin AFB) to Biloxi MS (Wynn's Hotel & Casino) to Jackson MS to Texarkana and back to Atlanta. WS6, 403 CI Olds, Auto, Fisher T-Tops, Mayan Red with Black interior. 2.73 rear gears runs outstanding on a cruise and gets near 20 mpg!
Most Favoritely a AM-FM-8-TRACK-CB RADIO. Crank Windows, tilt wheel, rear window defroster, T-Tops, 8 inch snowflakes alloy wheels. Some rare combination of options and not a lot of them!
Original engine in garage. Replacement engine out of another TA from salvage car. Only real mods have been to run true 'dual' exhaust with dual cats. Changed the snow flake 8" wheels (still have them) for Turbo Style 15 x 8's. Running 295/50-15s. Car handles really well with the wider, lower profile tires.
