Was jamming back from the o.c and classics industries in my 79 trans am with factory olds 403 and spun a main bearing. Does anyone know if this a common issue? I'd like to keep the car number matching, but cost is an issue. it still runs but has a hard core knock coming from the bottom of the pan. Would that idicate its a rebuildable canidate? Or is a totally tear down and having a machine shop check all the spec the only way to se if it rebuildable.
Also does anyone have experience swapping a 77 pontiac 400 for the olds 403i n trans am? is it an easy swap?
