Great car! 1984 was the best looking of the SVOs. Keep those original parts with the car, it is going to be highly collectible some day.

About

1984 Mustang SVO, A true SVO, Over all, 77,000 miles on it, bought it off ebay with most of the modifications done it to already and all the original parts that came out of it(engine, tranny, etc). Car is well, fast is a good term for it, rare as well. Less then 9,900 were ever made, considered by people to be the cobra of the time. it was just as fast the the 5.0's and came with alot more. It was built to be a road car, able to handle corners extremely well and accelerate fast.

Specs

The base specs of the SVO are as follows:
-2.3L sohc inline 4 cylinder engine with turbo aspiration and 8.01:1 compression making anywhere from 175-205 hp and 210-248lbs of torque based on what year of production. Mine is an 84 and made 175@5000rpm and 210@3000rpm.
-Type of turbo: AiResearch T-3 oil water oil cooler, Integral waste gate allows 15 psi boost, air-to-air intercooler lowers intake charge temp. from 300-degrees to 175 Fahrenheit.
-Only one kind of transmission was available with the SVO, a Hurst modified Borg-Warner T-5 5spd manual with a Hurst short throw shifter. The pedals in the car were specifically designed to enable easy heel and toe shifting
-Axle ratio for 1984 was 3.45:1 and from then on was 3.73:1
-Suspension: The svo came with Koni adjustable gas shocks in the front with a sway bar and the rear had adjustable gas shocks and a stabilizing bar. The rear also had koni axle dampers attached making quadra shocks
-Came with 4-wheel power disc brakes with 10.9'' rotors in the front and 11.3'' rotors in the rear
-Wheels were made specifically made for aerodynamics on the svo. they were 16''x7'' cast aluminum
-Hood has functional ram air induction and the svo came with a bi-wing spoiler
-Performance from the factory
1984 = 0-60 in 7.5 seconds, standing quarter mile in 15.5 seconds, Top Speed 134 mph.
1985 = 0-60 in 7.3 seconds, standing quarter mile in 15.4 seconds, Top Speed 140 mph.
1985.5 = 0-60 in 6.6 seconds, standing quarter mile in 15.1 seconds, Top Speed 140 mph.
1986 = 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, standing quarter mile in 15.3 seconds, Top Speed 140 mph

Options that came on this SVO are:
AM/FM Stereo Cassette Radio
Air Conditioning
Power Locks
Lower Bodyside Protection
Front Floor Mats
Leather Seats
Traction Lock

Mods

-2.3L engine was replaced with a 302ci V8 bored out to a 306ci. It is rated at 355hp and 395lbs of torque at the rear wheels
-Holley 650cfm 4 barrel carb
-Replaced orginal T-5 that came with the car with a built Borg-Warner T-5 that can handle V8 power. A new Hurst short throw shifter has been put on
-From the headers back are 2 and 1/2'' stainless steel straight pipe dual exhaust with flowmaster super 40 series mufflers
-Entire ignition system is now MSD
-K&N air filter and intake lid and K&N oil breathers as well
-16x7 5-spoke rims
-Lowered 1'' front and rear
-Dash has been completely redone with autometer gauges throughout. Also a vacuum gauge has been added
-Battery has been relocated to the cargo area and in the spot now is a dual oil filter set up
-New paint, not sure of its full name, just red for now. New SVO emblems has been put back on in factory locations
-subframe connectors welded on to support the frame for the V8
-Clutch has been upgraded
-Replaced factory driveshaft with a lightweight aluminum driveshaft
-Car has been undercoat for rust protection
