Another winter=MORE UPGRADES!!

By ss4ever

Filed under: 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (The SS)

Well looks like this winter I will be replacing my good running 305 with a decent 350 engine, keeping the TPI and T5 in place.

I will also be replacing the bassicly stock 7.5 Posi rear for an 8.5 rearend.

Hopefully I will be able to spend a little time detailing the engine compartment to make everything look a little better for this next year. I hope to win a few more awards with it.

Winter projects

Hello everyone, been a while since I updated my Journal so I thought I would update everyone on the projects I worked on over the winter.

Transmission: The stock 200-4R just wasn't cutting it anymore, she was slipping bad in second gear and in desperate need of an overhaul. Rather than rebuild the trans I opted to swap out the auto for a World Class T5 trans from a 90 Camaro RS 305 TBI car that I bought for parts. The trans is in and the car is running again with many new parts and WOW what a difference.

Hood: I added pics back in January with the new hood on the SS, I finally found someone to paint the hood for me, I got it back today and installed it, looks great IMO.

Thanks for looking at my page.

Well I got bit by the bug last week and ordered some Bell Tech 2" drop spindles for the front of the SS. Should set pretty sweet with the Eibachs but if it is too low I guess I will sell the eibachs and get something to raise it back up a hair. I decided while I have it apart I might as well install the new Moog Problem Solver upper and lower control arm bushings I bought for it two years ago LOL. The bushings on the car are 19 years and 190,000 miles old but were actually in decent shape considering the age/miles.

I hope to have the car back together this week along with an alignament and full detail. I need to get the car ready for the big G-body gathering in STL on sept 30th. If you are going I hope to see you there! Stop by and say hi!

I guess that is it for now.
