1988 Ford Mustang ASC McLaren (Casper)

Last updated Jun 11, 2012

Photo of a 1988 Ford Mustang ASC McLaren (Casper)

Seen this car on a lot in 1995 and HAD to have it. I have never seen one in person. So me and my friend had 2 88 mustang and was running wild with them. It's a stock 5.0 AOD is mostly stock for a ASC McLaren...But there is no such thing as a "STOCK" ASC McLaren.. It started out as a 88 Notchback mustang and the roof was taken off,the windshield laid back and a convertable top like the ones on Mercedes was installed on it.When the top is down it is covered by a hard toneu cover. The car is a two seater with two Oxblood color leather seats with cubby bins behind the front seats.its been lowered and the ground effects give the illusion its on the ground. It has been over 160 and still had pedal.

Engine 302 (5.0 liter) V8
Horsepower 225 @ 4000 rpm
Torque 300 @ 3200 rpm
Curb weight ~3350 lbs.

The ASC McLaren Mustangs were the brain-child of engineer Peter Muscat. From 1984 to 1990 a total of 1791 Ford Mustangs were converted by the Automobile Specialty Company, a division of the American Sunroof Company (ASC).

Road Tests 0-60 mph 1/4 mile
Estimated: 6.0 sec. 14.5 sec @ 96 mph
