I had been looking to get another sports car. Contemplating between an Acura NSX and a late model Corvette. I had been looking and watching for several years.
In March 2008 I saw an NSX on eBay that I thought looked like a very nice low mile NSX for a great price. I thought I would put in a bid $100 higher than the current bid, fully expecting the current bidder to have a higher maximum bid set, to where I would be immediately out bid, but I wasn't. That was on Good Friday. The bidding closed ~3:30 PM that Sunday (Easter). As it turned out nobody else had placed a higher bid. I ended up being the high bidder and next thing I knew I had to figure out how to get to Reno, NV and get the car home.
It had 38,500 miles when I purchased it and 40,000 by the time I drove it home.

This particular car sold new originally at Niello Acura, Sacramento, CA on June 21, 1991. Mileage at purchase 30.

Aluminum Body and Frame
Body, suspension parts, even the seat frames are made of aluminum. Aluminum is about everywhere, if it isn’t stamped or extruded, it’s forged or cast.
The only steel components are the crankshaft, the odd nut and bolt, plus a main strengthening tube across the front cockpit.

VTEC (Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control):
Each valve pair has three lobes & three rocker arms, with two overhead camshafts per cylinder row.
At low & mid-range revs, only the outer lobes are used.
The center lobe comes in at 5,800 RPM & connects itself to the outer lobes with a hydraulically operated stopper pin, offering the engine greater breathing, offering higher lift & longer opening time.
VVIS (Variable Volume Induction System) with six magnesium alloy butterfly valves open at 4,800 RPM, enhance top end power through an inertia ram effect.

* Hand built at Honda’s Tochigi Japan Plant
Workers were hand-picked and had to have a minimum of 10 years experience.
Only Honda’s best were allowed to work on the NSX.
* Each NSX did 3 laps on the Tochigi 2 ½ mile banked oval circuit track (7 ½ miles).
First lap at 75 MPH rising to 125 MPH by the third lap.
* Painting process involved 27 separate operations to ensure a flawless paint surface.
