About
Beatiful and rare open 2-seater. Never officially exported from Japan by Honda. Maybe 100 examples in the UK, Now a cult car in Japan with it's own race series and lots of after-market modification companies. Claimed to be the first mid-engined open-top monocoque design in 1990.
Sadly, now sold to a new owner who I'm sure will cherish the Beat ... if his wife and daughter will let him get near it!
Specs
2-seat convertible
Mid-engine, 3-cyl 660cc, 64bhp
5-speed manual shift
F1 derived MTREC engine technology, redlines at 8,500rpm
Factory Options
Fully loaded with all available extras, including aircon, which is unusual for a small open 2-seater.
Mods
Stainless straight through cat-back exhaust added (sounds a bit like an Impreza)
14" alloys all round, replacing original 13" fronts and 14" rears.
Continental tyres replacing hard-to-get Potenzas
Very limited opportunity to boost power, other than replacing the limiter chip. A turbo was available in Japan, but impossible to get that now. Mostly available are exotic silencers (got one) and outlandish body styling kits which can spoil the car's looks.
