With 10 laps left in the 1997 Daytona 500,Dale Earnhardt had maneuvered into 2nd place in his quest to finally win.However,The Intimidator got a jolt as jeff gordon overtook him.The pass took the air off of Earnhardt's spoiler,sending it sideways where it bounced off the 24 dupont car and hit the wall.Another strike sent the 3 airborne,flipping it over another race car until it landed on its wheels in Daytona's infield.
