Nov 5, 2009 at 8:46 am: It's amazing what Chevy has done with the LS series V8s. Everyone says that pushrods are obsolete and Chevy just keeps improving theirs. Your larger, "obsolete" 5.7L V8 gets better fuel economy than my sophisticated DOHC 4.0L V8 in the Jaguar. Yes it is smooth and quick revving, but I miss the low end grunt of a good pushrod V8 like I had in my '87 Mercury Cougar.

I haven't looked at depreciation on Corvettes, but my Jag stickered at over $80,000 and the price fell so far I picked it up for less than $20,000 with about 43,000 miles and in perfect shape. Jaguars history of unreliability is still hurting its newer vehicles.
