Imagine my surprise when I found that my daily driver had been named "Cool Ride of the Week" on 9/9/10! Hey, I've always thought the car was pretty cool, but I identified with my '66 Corvair, "Ashley", so I looked at this car more as just being a fun daily driver. Feb 18, 2012 at 12:13 am: You were blessed to have two such cool rides at one time. I guess Jerry can't very well give the Cool Ride award to a car someone doesn't have anymore like your Ashley, but he clearly knows a Cool Ride when he sees one.

Feb 16, 2012 at 2:55 am: As I like to tell people, 171 h.p.in a sub-3,000 lb car is definitely enough to get you in trouble in all 50 states! I decided when I was looking for a sport coupe in 2005 that I didn't really NEED the added expense of the Turbo model - about $5,000 more expensive than the non-turbo, as well as another $2,000/year on the insurance! My car has little or no trouble against reasonably stock 5.0 Mustangs and most 1980's Corettes... Besides, the turbo was rated at 28 mpg highway and my non-turbo was rated at 34. Even on the cheap winter blend gas, we were able to get over 35 on our recent trip to Williamsburg. During the summer, even with the A/C running, that would be closer to 40 mpg.
