2006 Ford Explorer XLT (Joe)

Last updated Mar 28, 2011

Photo of a 2006 Ford Explorer XLT (Joe)

I got this excellent looking 2006 Explorer XLT used on October 1st, 2009. I got it with about 63,300 miles on it and now it's at around 74,500 miles. It's got the V8 (292 hp) with the tow package and it runs quite well. It is sadly 2wd, but I figure it will be more reliable, have better MPG, and I won't try to get myself into as much trouble. I haven't done anything to it other than replace the head unit, speakers, and add an amp.

I'm thinking about painting the grille gunmetal gray, hopefully it will look good. I also want to get some off road wheels and tires someday, but that probably won't be for a while. I'm also thinking about getting an exhaust and a CAI, and I'll probably do that before the wheels/tires if I ever do anything.

I actually originally wanted a Ranger, but that didn't work out. I almost bought a 2003 Ranger FX4, but it turned out it wasn't in that great of condition for its age. Explorers are a much better value anyway. For $1000 more, I got a vehicle with 5 leather seats, a power driver's seat, auto headlights, bigger engine, better ride, etc. Of course, the Explorer is not a truck with a bed and it's off road capabilities are nil, but otherwise it's great.

Anyway, thanks for looking.
