About
This was my first car. I bought it from my sister for $1500 in 1985. It was a nice ride but it was s-l-o-w on acceleration. Had the little 260 V8 with a high ratio differential. 0 - 60 in 15 seconds flat but it would FLY on top end. Near me was a road with one mile marked off. Hit one line with the speedo buried and 24 seconds later crossed the next line. That figures to just over 150 MPH. I was 17 at the time but had been driving solo for 5 years already. My best friend had the all new 300Zx 9non-turbo). In a drag race he could get his rear bumper even with my front bumper on take off but I would pass him if we had enough road. I had a lot of firsts in that car from my first wreck to my first speeding ticket to my first...kiss. After my first wreck (a header into an embankment drifting on a wet road long before it was known as drifting) I put a 1980 front clip on it and my brother and I repainted it vette Blue and vette silver . I was hit in the side 2 days later. I swapped it and an 81 BMW on a Z-28 shortly after that.
Specs
0-60 15 seconds
Top speed 150+
260 V8 automatic
Could drift an entire city block on a wet road...but it was just wrecklessdriving then; drifting wasn't a sport yet.
Factory Options
Calais silver and blue plaid interior. I added red covers to all the lights inside and red pinstriping to separate the blue and silver two-tone paint. Too bad I don't have a pic after it was repainted.
Mods
60s tires, stereo system, driving lights, custom paint
