2004 Mercury Marauder (Danger)

Photo of a 2004 Mercury Marauder (Danger)

For those of you who think this is a black Grand Marquis - wrong. The Marauder is powered by a normally aspirated, all-aluminum 4.6-liter DOHC V-8 with four valves per cylinder, (like the Cobra's) producing 302 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and 318 foot-pounds of torque at 4,300 rpm.

On the rear end of the car are two-inch diameter high-flow stainless steel exhaust pipes leading to 2.25-inch tailpipes out of the muffler with three-inch stainless steel tips. Sounds nice! Underneath are 3.55 gears and a limited slip differential.

Wheels are 18-inch five spoke forged aluminum-alloy wheels wearing BFGoodrich g-Force T/A tires - P235/50WR18 on the fronts and P245/55WR18 on the back. Gives a nice muscle rake to the car.

Inside, french stiched black leather with the iconic Mercury gods head logo embossed in the seatbacks, faux aluminum trim below the dash and autometre guages. Speedo and tach are white and the speedo goes to 220 (kilometres per hour).

Muscular luxury is how one friend described the car....appropriate. I love this car.
