About
My 1978 Porsche 928 the Best Damn GT ever made!
Débuting at the 1977 Geneva Motor Show. At the time the car was considered light years ahead of it's time! in 1978 it won the European Car of the Year. Featuring many first in the automotive world.
The front Porsche with a engine water cooled V8 engine, that also employed a rear transaxle that gave the car an almost perfect 50/50 front to rear weight distribution.
While many in the P-car community would sooner forget about the 928 & consider it the Red-headed stepchild of the Porsche world, because it's engine isn't air cooled or rear mounted. In truth – while larger & much more comfortable, it equaled or surpassed the 911 (save the turbo) thanks to its almost perfect weight distribution, coupled with it’s superior power output gave it similar or superior performance to it's contemporary rear-engined Porsches.
The 928 was/is a true 2+2 GT with a hatchback that employed an innovation called the Weissacah Axle – a sort of passive rear wheel steering under “off throttle” cornering. A situation that the 911’s had a problem with – where the back end tried to come out.
Specs
Front mounted all aluminum 4.5L V8 water cooled engine. 5-Speed rear transaxle. 240 hp & 280tq.
Factory Options
None. Only options offered on the 928 by Porsche where a sun/moon roof and power seats. My Shark is a bit rare because most 928s delivered to N.America had both - mine dosn't.
Mods
18" 5-spoke wheels.
Borla Cat-back exhaust. Y-pipe w/o cat.
Stereo; CD player XM satilite radio.
