1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo S COUPE (The Car)
Last updated Jan 25, 2009
I purchased this car from a fellow in Cleveland,OH. I had only seen two pictures of it, I was not able to travel all that way just to look at it. First time I called him someone had already left a $500 dollar deposit, so I checked online a week later, it was still on the website. I called him back, he said the guy never showed up, if I still wanted the car, it was mine. I paid $2000 dollars for her, she arrived in about a week at my home. I was so excited to see her for the first time. I couldn't believe the car was actually here. I spent the first afternoon just polishing the car, this is the car that I had been wanting for so long. I am planning on trying to do a body-off restoration. This is the only classic car I will probably ever have. I just want to do this beautiful car right. I am currently in restore mode, next step is to take the monte to Des Moines, IA close to where I live to get it media blasted. Current paint is lacquer-checked, will have to come back down to bare metal. I haven't decided on a color yet, would love a matador red maybe, current color is kinda a bronze-orange color that I like also because you don't see many of them that color. The interior is Black, is in excellent shape except for the front seat which will need to be recovered. I am looking forward to getting back to work on her this Spring, thanks for reading my story.
Engine: 350 four barrel quadrajet
Factory options on this car: full vinyl top which was special order for this year. It is an S coupe, so it also has the tachometer and all the gauges, not just the idiot lights.
No modifications so far.
