1988 Volkswagen Golf GTI 16v. (Mark 2)
Last updated Jan 24, 2007
this is my favorite front wheel drive car of all time, i haven't driven any other like it, trail braking brings the back end around, it has great mid range compared to any other naturally aspirated 4cyl. i've ever driven. it was tossable and handled exactly like you would want a car to handle.
only complaint was the stupid german reverse, i don't enjoy engaging reverse while trying to get into first (the clip that blocked it was broken).
i traded my civic for it actually, i loved that car, but someone told me they would sell me their 1987 toyota Corolla GT-S so i sold it for a whopping $600 as that was all i needed. luckily the guy screwed me and kept his corolla.
some people laugh at the striped interior, but i think it has style for miles, and those seats hold very well.
if the opportunity ever arrises to drive a old volkswagen, I.E. a scirocco or golf (MKII or earlier) do it, its a great experience.
1.8 liter 16 valve, 4 wheel discs, 5 speed, and two doors i guess.
it had old Recaro seats and pretty much the same stuff any normal car would have, though it was the first year they put the 16 valve 1.8 liter motor in golfs, which it had.
Lowered, big bumpers, removed power steering (yes!), tinted back windows, and bottle cap wheels.
