Head to Head

About “The Beast”

This car was the pre bandit for smokey and the bandit. This car has the last year of the 455 big block engine. With these characteristics, only 319 OF NON T TOP 455 4 SPEED were made. That is so rare, maybe a quarter of these cars are still left. This car has a extrodinary amount of power. Just had a new clutch and line lock put in. I will upload and send a video invite later today.

About “Matilda”

Miss Matilda The Car isn't just my car, or my mode of transportation. She's also my best friend. For a bit of history, this vehicle basically fell into my lap thanks to an old friend of mine who got her off of eBay motors with the intent to give her to me. At the time I didn't have my license and had no clue what I was going to do with a car.

Oh sure I wanted a Firebird in the future. Those are my most favourite model ever!! But I wanted to wait until I got my license first, and budgeted enough to be able to properly care for said vehicle once I obtained it. But no, my buddy had bought her for $900, with the intent to give her to me for $850. But if I didn't want the car, he assured me he'd just keep it for himself and either way it would have a good home.

Fortunately it didn't come to that, however. He went up to Long Island to get the car, and when he drove her back, he parked her in front of my apartment. Looking out and seeing this car, something clicked. Here was my most favourite model of car, sitting in front of my home, possibly with the intent to be mine. I went outside, and when I sat behind the wheel, everything clicked into place tenfold. She fit like a glove, and even though this poor vehicle was banged up, with huge scratch marks on her hood, I knew right then and there that this car was mine, and that her name was henceforth to be Matilda. I paid my friend, worked my budgeting around, and have been very happy ever since.

That was back in 2004. Since then, Matilda and I have come a long way. I've of course gotten my license, and she's underwent all sorts of overhauls, including a new engine, new coat of paint, complete derusting, a new catalytic converter, new y-pipe, new brake lines, and new oxygen sensors. AND...a new car cover. Whew! Not bad for a start!

I hope Matilda's around forever. I love her so much! I joke around that she and I are like Michael and KITT. And you know? It's true.....only she's much more ladylike, and I'm not as obnoxious. :)

More About Miss Car:
*This car's all lady! She's somewhat shy, though friendly overall. And at shows she's likely to be all decked out with little accessories. Like the silk scarf tied around her spoiler, and her floormats, seat covers, and CD holder, all of which are black with a matching pink and purple hearts theme. :)
*She's opinionated. She makes it clear when something does not settle with her, and when very agitated refuses to start.
*Matilda loves music! Especially jazz and some r&b. Playing either genre, or sticking in one of her CDs will calm her down and have her engine purring in no time. :)
*She has a crush on Herbie the Love Bug.

Yeah. I'm having a lot of fun with this. But why not? Having a car is a lot of fun! Nothing makes me happier then when I'm driving her or outside working on her or cleaning her up. To me, it's not just work, it's spending time with a friend. :)

Miss Car's Stats:
*2.8 litre V6 engine
*Top speed? Her speedometre only goes up to 85, but I'm fairly sure she hit 100 once on the PA turnpike. *blush*
*0-60 in .3 milliseconds!!!!!! Okay, not really. She glides up there though I'd say in about....*times her* 5-10 seconds? I dunno. But I don't worry about it either. The way I see it, Matilda's a lady. And Ladies do not need to make loud noises or screech from point A to point B. *sniffs daintily* ;)

Tildamods!
*She's naturally a hardtop, but had a moonroof installed. She was like that when I got her.
*Her paint job is a variation of ultraviolet, a shade most commonly seen on early 90s Ford Escorts. And the Firebird decals on her sail panels are fuchsia! She was originally white.
